Local Realilty Expo on Hope Street

It’s about here and now: well… “Hope Street” will be performed 4 minutes 35 seconds from the corner of Sauchiehall and Hope Street. We timed it. You have to walk quickly enough to warm up your legs on a rainy day in early May to get to CCA in that amount of time, but still, we have tried to make this performance about Hope Street as close to the here and now as we possibly could.

Local Reality Expo is about making theatre about the very, very ordinary. It’s about drainpipes and manhole covers. It’s about those black metal public benches and the sound of that street cleaner’s car and his two enormous brushes. All these things are so mundane. But if you look at them very, very closely you might just see something extra-ordinary, or gorgeous, or even splendid.

We’re making a piece of theatre about hope on Hope Street, Glasgow, May 2008 we hope you can be part of it.
